James Murphy, international executive vice president for Costco Wholesale, will speak at 7:10 p.m., Tuesday, April 2, in the Bauccio Commons Board Room on the University of Portland campus.
In the free talk, Murphy will discuss his career and leadership philosophy. His duties with Costco include directing activities and expansion of operations outside of North America. He is also responsible for U.S.-based global buying and export groups.
A member of the University of Portland’s Board of Regents, he joined Costco in 1987 as the warehouse manager in Portland and has held several executive positions within the company. He received an MBA from the University of Portland in 1991 and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Southern California.
