CORVALLIS — At St. Mary Church, children gather monthly in a library program to learn about a saint whose feast day falls that month.

In December, the youngsters explored the piety and generosity of St. Nicholas. They heard stories about his life and glued photos of him on art projects.

In January, the children learned about St. John Bosco, who helped street children and other disadvantaged youth using teaching methods based in love. He is the patron saint of magicians, so the little ones learned a few simple magic tricks.

Anne Salazar, who coordinates the program,  keeps books about the many different saints available so children can revisit their previous lessons any time they wish.
