BEAVERTON — On Dec. 6 — the day before the annual U.S. remembrance of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor — history came to life for students at Valley Catholic High School. World War II re-enactors visited the and fitted students out as U.S. paratroopers, U.S. infantry, Russian infantry, German infantry and paratroopers. The students performed a drill and fired blanks from vintage weapons.
“Students got an new appreciation for the efforts of vets being in the elements and handling the gear,” said Phil McQueen, history and social studies teacher.
