EUGENE — Marist for Life, the pro-life club at Marist High School in Eugene, attended a prayer session on last month as part of 40 Days for Life. Father Bryce McProud from St. Mary Parish led eight Marist students and three staff members in prayer, recitation of the rosary and meditation on the Sorrowful Mysteries in front of the local abortion clinic.
Marist participants came away from the experience with admiration for those who regularly attend the sidewalk vigil to support men, women and babies in crisis.
This fall, Marist for Life began praying the rosary for life each week, with an invitation to the entire Marist community to join them in prayer 2:45-3 p.m. in the school's chapel.
Marist for Life began four years ago in response to the Catholic vote for a pro-choice presidential candidate. Students are involved in infusing pro-life values at the school and in the Eugene/Springfield community through prayer, education, outreach and rallies.
"By joining in 40 Days for Life, it is our hope that the prayers and witness of all participants will save just one precious life and help enlighten those who are pro-choice to a greater respect for all human life," says a statement from the group.
