LAKE OSWEGO — Bishop Remi De Roo, known as a “pilgrim” of the Second Vatican Council, will preside and preach during an Immaculate Conception vigil Mass at 6 pm., Friday, Dec. 7 at Our Lady of the Lake Parish here.

The bishop was appointed as a Second Vatican Council father in 1962. He addressed the councils at all four sessions and submitted and co-signed a number of written documents on a variety of topics.

In 2000, the bishop attended the beatification ceremonies of Pope John XXIII, who appointed him to the council. Since his retirement in 1999, Bishop De Roo has traveled extensively, holding retreats and leading lectures.

Following the vigil Mass, Bishop De Roo will talk at a reception in the parish hall.
