Costumes go to children in need

TUALATIN — Johanna Parker and Sophie Bohley are working on their Silver Award project, the second highest award in Scouting, and the highest award that girls of their age can earn. Both girls are eighth-graders at Athey Creek Middle School and members of Resurrection Parish here.

For their project, they decided to make and collect simple Halloween costumes for kindergarteners through 12th-graders who live in shelters, and may not otherwise be able to afford to buy their own costume.

The girls are currently collecting materials, gently used costumes and costume accessories. They plan to spend more than 50 hours on this project. To help, send email to [email protected]
