Four years ago, Donna Jarvis organized a fine art show at St. Clare Church to show off the parish community’s talent. Photography, paintings, wall hangings, jewelry, ceramics and sculpture were among media on display.

Jarvis, a watercolor artist, started her own journey as an artist when she was 60, after taking a painting class at the Tigard Senior Center. She has since taken many classes and workshops, studying landscape, still life and portraiture. She has been the featured artist in three exhibits.

“My desire is always to paint the play of light and shadow as it touches the wonders of God’s creation, whether in a flower, water, clouds, or the beautiful face of a grandchild,” Jarvis said.

She is a juried member of the Oregon Society of Artists and the Watercolor Society of Oregon.

The fourth annual St. Clare art show and sale is set for November.
