Honors to be announced for Tigard graduates

TIGARD — Graduation for 41 eighth graders from St. Anthony School in Tigard is set for Tuesday, June 12. Festivities with family and friends begins with a farewell assembly at 10 a.m. followed by a baccalaureate Mass at 7 p.m., both of which will be held in the church.
During the all-school assembly, students will receive outstanding achievement awards in math, science, history, art, music, computers, physical education, religion, English and Spanish. Thirty of the graduates have attended St. Anthony since kindergarten, so tissues and handkerchiefs will no doubt be needed as students and parents relive many fond moments as they watch the eighth grade “Memories” video, which chronicles the students’ years spent at St. Anthony School.
During the graduation Mass, students will receive academic scholarship awards to local Catholic high schools, with the most distinguished award being the Archbishop Vlazny Award for outstanding Christian service. To conclude the ceremony, graduates will receive a satin ribbon lei in the school colors of their chosen high school.
