Students get in the picture

Fourth graders at O’Hara Catholic School in Eugene presented the Talking Art Museum on March 20. For the month previous, students studied an artist and re-created an art piece of which they became a physical part.

Twenty-six works of art were presented with students dressing up to be in the painting or sculpture while speaking about it.  Artists represented included: Michelangelo, Henri Matisse, Botticelli, Raphael, Picasso, Leonardo da Vinci and Claude Monet. Formal art instruction is part of the core curriculum at O’Hara. Taught in O’Hara’s art studio by Anna Mueller and Jen Hernandez, students receive up to an hour of instruction in fine arts each week.
