MCMINNVILLE — St. James School here is thriving and doing well, say students and staff. The school has 105 students, with grades Pre 3 and 4 through 5th grade. Principal, Jeananne Bloudek is in her third year at St. James School, coming from St. Anthony’s Parish previously. Third through fifth grade students are currently working on reports about several of the United Sates, Oregon and McMinnville.
The fifth graders also do a stock market project, where they must make a profit if they wish to receive a prize for their efforts. The winner of the project gets a free lunch, which is delivered to St. James School.
Each year the school hosts the McMinnville Wine and Food Classic, the school's biggest fundraiser. It is held at the Evergreen Museum in McMinnville. At the Wine and Food Classic, participants can sample wines from all over Oregon and Washington. There are tables of merchandise. The Wine and Food Classic will be held March 9-11.
