Hillsboro - St. Matthew School
The school welcomes preschoolers and new staff to the community this year. The 2011-'12 theme, “Be a Light For Others,” encourages students and staff to be a light as Jesus Christ is the Light of the world.
This year marks the launch of a preschool program under the guidance of Julie Nelson. She has six years’ experience teaching preschool. Nelson is joined by instructional assistant Elizabeth Hodgson, who has an art degree and experience with Young Rembrandts, an after-school art program.
Kim Karper is the seventh-grade homeroom and middle school science teacher. She has experience teaching science and humanities.
Heidi Wigman recently taught fourth- and sixth-grade science, math, and technology in Hawaii and is the new computer teacher.
With experience teaching in a blended first/second-grade classroom, Rachel Devlin is the first-grade teacher.
Karen Rosvall joins the staff as the new fifth-grade partner teacher. She taught fifth graders for five years in Nevada.
Eileen Noradki, math specialist, has 16 years’ teaching experience.
Richard Hodgson, elementary instructional assistant, previously worked with Viking Club, St. Matthew’s before- and after-school childcare program.
Molly Connolly brings substitute experience to her role as elementary instructional assistant.
John Sheridan joins the staff as school counselor. His experience is with OHSU as a clinical social worker.
Previously head teacher, Beverly Slater is now Viking Club Director. Slater has an endorsement in English as a second language. Sarah Kerns and Nate Powell join Viking Club as staff members.
Heather Renshaw is the marketing and development coordinator. Her experience is in business development and consulting.
