Mary Clare Metscher joins the middle school faculty. She will be teaching accelerated math classes. Metscher, a graduate of the University of Portland, recently taught at De La Salle North Catholic High School.

Caitlin Ponzetti comes from Queen of Peace School in Salem, where she has been the second grade teacher this past year. Ponzetti will be teaching third grade at Christ the King. She is a 2009 graduate of the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC and completed a Master of Arts in Teaching at the University of Portland in 2010.

Christ the King is developing a dedicated science lab and adding a mobile computer lab.

“Developing a school-wide STEM [Science, Technology, Engineer and Math] approach here at Christ the King enables our students to master the skills needed for high school and beyond,” says Joe Bridgeman, the principal.

The number of new students is increasing. Enrollment exceeds 230. The school year began with an ice cream social.
