The Allegras will perform a reunion show Sunday, Aug. 7.
PORTLAND — The Allegras, a collection of Marycrest School graduates from the classes of 1969 through 1973, will perform at 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 7, at St. Anthony Church. A reception will follow in the parish hall.
The performance, titled “The Second Time Around,” will feature all types of choral pieces, even a few Broadway show tunes.
The choir, which was considered an elite singing group when they were high school students, consists of 10 singers.
They reunited for the first time last summer to perform for Dominican Sister Phyllis Marie Bridenbecker. Sister Phyllis, who now goes by her birth name, Sister Diane, was the women’s music teacher at Marycrest. Also in attendance was Dominican Sister Charlotte Shea, who once served as principal at Marycrest.
Following the reunion performance, they were invited to sing at The Grotto’s Festival of Lights.
