Book Signing at Shalom Prayer Center July 20

MOUNT ANGEL — Dorothy Hill Baroch will sign copies of her new book, Listen to the Heartbeat of the Church: A Pathway to Parish Renewal, 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, July 20 at Shalom Prayer Center.

Listen to the Heartbeat of the Church uses the age-old concept of episcopal visitation and insights gleaned from Benedictine monastic life and practices to illustrate how parish renewal can happen today. In the book, Baroch shares her vision of shared ministry and improved communication between the laity and church hierarchy.

Sister Dorothy Jean Beyer, former prioress of Queen of Angels Monastery in Mount Angel, where Baroch is a Benedictine oblate, says the writer blends her experience as an oblate, a life-long Catholic, and an organizational development consultant.

"She transforms the Benedictine concepts of discernment, consensus decision-making, and careful listening into practices that the laity and clergy will find meaningful and be eager to implement in their parishes," Sister Dorothy Jean says.

Copies of Listen to the Heartbeat of the Church can be purchased at Shalom, 840 S. Main Street, Mt. Angel, or by calling or emailing Christine Zollner at 503-845-6773, or [email protected]
