Called to have faith, but challenged by life

MOUNT ANGEL — Shalom Prayer Center, a ministry of the Benedictine Sisters, is presenting "Called to Have Faith . . . But Challenged by Life," a retreat workshop led by Dominican Sister Carol Dempsey, Nov. 9-10.

This retreat weekend explores the faith journey in the context of loss, grief, transition and the question of God. The retreat also examines the nature of friendship, celebration, and reflection and how such gifts can deepen faith in one another and in God.

Sister Carol Dempsey is a professor of biblical studies at the University of Portland. She has written about prophets, biblical theology, ecology, biblical ethics, and gender studies. She has been a Dominican for 36 years.

Cost of the retreat is $125. The cost for those not wishing to have accommodations and meals is $70. Registration deadline is Nov. 2. To register or learn more about this retreat visit www.benedictine-srs.org/shalom, call 503-845-6773, or email shalom@mtangel.net.
