Christopher Okapal, son of Dan and Mary Okapal of St. Pius X Parish in Cedar Mill, was ordained to the transitional deaconate last month for the Norbertine Fathers.
Rev. Frater Maximilian Okapal was ordained in California by Auxiliary Bishop Cirilo Flores of the Diocese of Orange. The ordination took place at the Basilica of Mission San Juan Capistrano.
Frater Maximilian graduated from Sunset High School in Beaverton, in 1998 and from Thomas Aquinas College in Santa Paula, Calif. in 2002. He entered the Order of Canons Regular of Premontre, commonly known as the Norbertine Fathers, in August 2002.
Frater Okapal will return to Rome this fall for one more year of theology studies at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas — The Angelicum. Plans call for him to be ordained a priest in the near future.
