Like Mother Teresa of Calcutta — maybe God feels she can do more help for her children on Earth than she was able to do up until now.

Thoughts on Mother Angelica
She was so joyful and filled with the love of God!

Faith journeys
The pictures and text in your publication have vastly improved and I find myself reading it from cover to cover.

Vigil inspiration
I do not know whose idea it was to include testimonies of conversion in the Catholic Sentinel’s April 1st edition (post Holy Week), but that was a brilliant idea.

The Grotto
Alleluia to the Sentinel for putting a story and photo of the Grotto on the front page of the St. Patrick’s Day edition, and to Grotto executive director Tom Fullmer for referring to the Grotto as a sanctuary and oasis for the city.

I think Jesus felt abandoned
I believe that at that moment of his passion he really believed, if only for that moment, that God had abandoned him.

Beautiful crucifix
I tell them of my own epiphany and how I became a Catholic after realizing that I needed help and that there was no one here who could provide that help.

Resolvable only by faith
The dilemma exceeds human logic and is resolvable only by faith

'Pray for me' - laborers are few and need prayers
Jesus said, “The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest.” (Luke 10:12)  We are constantly reminded to pray for vocations.

"Finest men"
Regarding Feb. 17 catholicsentinel.org “Paulists to withdraw from St. Philip Neri,” I met the Paulists when I was becoming Catholic 32 years ago and they are among some of the finest men I have ever known.

Seek Beauty
I studied calligraphy under Fr. Palladino at Reed College, where he taught me to seek beauty in the objects of daily life, in places where I had not thought to look.
Friday, March 25, 2016
I will always be grateful to Fr. Robert Palladino for his skill at calligraphy and for scribing my ordination announcements in English and Italian (it was a quote from St. Francis).

Affordable homes
Rob Justus does wonderful work to provide truly affordable homes for people whose income is “modest.”

Respecting Muslims as people, following the saints
Putting Crusades and modern Islamic violence in one sentence with no further explanation betrays lack of understanding of our own Catholic history on one hand, and the roots of Islamic violence on the other.

Young faith
I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to attend Mass on Feb. 4 at Queen of Peace in Salem celebrating Catholic Schools Week. What a wonderful experience to see so many young people practicing the faith that many in the media would like to say is dead.

What a gift
Regarding “Vision, song bring medieval books to life,” (Feb. 19. page 1): I am so looking forward to experiencing this beautiful journey. What a gift.

Wearing cross
The Feb. 5 Sentinel (page 6) contained an article by college sophomore Allison Stadelman headlined “Conforming to God’s will, not society’s,” wherein a boy mocked her for wearing a necklace with a cross.

Faith formation in my era: Wind blew it away
Regarding “Days of big church dinners fading,” (Jan. 8, page 20): I enjoyed reading this article, because I can see the heads of grey hair at the Masses I attend and also at some functions. It is so apparent that there will be a gap in the demographics of age attendance in the Church.
