To the Catholic Sentinel:

Re: “Our King speaks peace,” Mary Jo Tully, July 6.

“Freedom is built upon peace. As we hear the Scriptures, we pray for leaders who will come in peace to work for freedom. We pray that those who announce that they will lay down their lives for their country might also be willing to lay down their arms,” Mary Jo wrote.

Dear sister, I have not heard these words from the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. Our King may speak of peace. Our pastors speak of wasted issues.

Open to criticism, I am your brother,

Rolando Rodriguez

I've been "spell checked." I wrote "waisted issues," which may have been ironically corrected to "wasted issues."
