On Catholic voting

To the Catholic Sentinel:

I was raised in a Catholic home and even served as an altar boy.

One thing that amazes me still about modern Catholics is that the majority of them belong to political parties that support abortion.

These Catholics also vote regularly for candidates who support abortion.

I think the simple command, Thou Shalt Not Kill, should translate into action how people vote and which candidates they support.
Why do people who attend churches opposed to killing the unborn then go home and support parties and candidates that do support abortion?

Have we not communicated? Catholics can make a difference and end this murder.

You lament how the majority of Catholics belong to political parties that support abortion (which you mean mainly those who identify as Democrats) but you fail to identify the Catholics who follow parties that support the death penalty and unbridled war and operations other than war that cause death. What party exactly do you think supports all our Catholic views? Time for American Catholics to be voting out the incumbent and thinking 3rd party rather than blind loyalty to the big 2 parties.

Would that the last sentence in this Letter were accurate! Given the judicially authorized legal status of abortion on demand as the fact it is in our country today, all the voting in the world cannot change that. Even more discouraging is the fact that while a numerical majority of the USSC is Catholic, changing the existing status seems unlikely.
