To the Catholic Sentinel:

I watched a few minutes of The Simpsons on TV awhile back and was disgusted by what I saw. It portrayed the Simpson family in church. Their youngest son was drinking wine from the chalice and threw up on the floor.

The priest and congregation said the boy was possessed by the devil. The priest and other church people paraded down the street to the Simpson’s house and demanded the father surrender the boy to the priest because they said he was possessed by the devil and needed to have an exorcism.

The father refused and escaped with his family in their car. The depiction of the Eucharist in this blasphemous way was very disturbing to me.

Parents and educators need to be aware of the contents of such programs and encourage children and others not to watch them.
