Not the only priest-cousin
Fr. Ed Coleman
Fr. Ed Coleman

To the Catholic Sentinel:

The Coleman Clan is grateful for the fine story on Young Farmer John.

If I may add a few comments: While I am pleased with the honorable mention, it should be known that I am not the only priest-cousin in the family.

We have Fr. Ed of the cowboy cousins. He is the pastor in Stayton. More distantly, through the Bohemian connection, we have Msgr. Tim Murphy.

Also, John is the sixth generation on the Coleman line but could count himself as a  seventh generation Oregonian through the Cosgrove line.

As for Dutch ancestry, I only know that our grandfather spoke about some Pennsylvania Dutch connection. Those folks are really Germans — no Van-this or Van-that, as far as I know.

Father Jim Coleman
