A priest hears a pilgrim's confession under a shelter outside St. Anthony's Convent in downtown Rio de Janeiro
To the Catholic Sentinel:
Again, who’s kidding whom? With 1,000 weekly communicants in a parish, the one hour Saturday afternoon confession schedule does not allow all the communicants even to make their Easter duty. Do the math. At four minutes per confession, only 15 confessions are possible in the one hour, or 780 confessions per year. It doesn’t compute.
At that rate, you would think Ebeneezer Scrooge rather than St. John Vianney was the patron saints of parish priests.
