Hailing a saint-to-be
Catholic News Service
Pope John Paul II on visit to U.S. in 1987.
To the Catholic Sentinel:
I am thrilled that Blessed Pope John Paul will soon be proclaimed a saint!
He was an inspiration and a witness to the life of Christ; a shepherd of truth immersed in profound humility and immense love.
His many writings and tireless, world-wide pilgrimages have been a source of strength, encouragement, confidence, optimism and enlightenment.
He lived the Christian virtues in a heroic way. He was slow to condemn and quick to forgive.
He was the world’s most influential and uncompromising defender of human life.

The Vatican has cleared Pope John XXIII’s sainthood cause, too.
