We are blessed to be children of revealed truth

A painting of the Virgin of Charity of El Cobre. Letter writer suggests Mary as model for women.
To the Catholic Sentinel:
This regards the letter in the May 3 issue, “Is she liberal? Let us count the ways.”
There’s no question Mrs. Sproul is a liberal. The real question is, is she a Catholic?
I fully agree with Mrs. Sproul, abuse is a terrible crime. Abuse, even sexual, must never be equaled to the murder of the tiny, innocent and helpless. If our church speaks out more loudly against this killing than any other institution, we have reason to be proud to call ourselves Catholic.
The hierarchy has gone beyond formulaic apologies on child abuse. No organization has made greater strides against child abuse.
It’s astonishing Mrs. Sproul has failed to notice the hierarchical apologies repeatedly (and sincerely) given by virtually every bishop in the world.
As for Mrs. Sproul’s chagrin at not being included in the Conclave, the particular feminine genius expresses itself best in the noble virtues of the greatest woman of all time, the mother of God.
Would Our Lady pine for a red hat? Would she label herself sensitive, liberal or conservative?
Truth is real, not relative, if we have an informed conscience. As Catholics we are blessed to be children of the only divine source of revealed truth on this planet: the sacred and holy Church. Love her with the devotion she merits.
