Stop endorsing GOP
Catholic News Service
Mitt Romney and President Obama gesture toward each other during the second U.S. presidential debate in October.
To the Catholic Sentinel:
I keep reading letters the Catholic Sentinel publishes admonishing people who vote for those who support abortion. Was there a candidate this past presidential election who did not support abortion? No. The Republican ticket cowardly caved in to accept in cases of rape and incest.
Also, while Republican supporters are so quick to decry abortion, I have yet to see a concerted effort to decry the killings of our service members and civilians through war perpetuated largely by Republicans. I see a lot of finger pointing without regard to holistically assessing all the issues.
The Catholic Sentinel’s continued endorsement of the Republican Party is sorely misplaced and misguided. Both parties fail to support our Catholic faith; we all would be better served by the endorsement of an individual who we can verify as a Catholic supporter. Party loyalty and a lack of situational awareness are hurting the country and our Church.
