To the Catholic Sentinel:

Council Father Bishop Remi De Roo spoke at three different parishes earlier this month. He is truly a treasure of the Catholic Church, having participated in all four sessions of the Vatican II Council. I attended an Oregon Faith and Sharing Retreat in July where Bishop Remi was the animator.

I was impressed with his energy and strength. His presence in the Portland area was a gift. He was 38 and had just been appointed Bishop of Victoria when he was told to get on the next plane to Rome. He tells how Vatican II was, in Blessed John XXIII’s words, a second Pentecost.
