To the Catholic Sentinel:

Becoming homeless is a terrifying proposition for anyone, especially a woman or a mother and her children. Rose Haven, a local nonprofit, will serve 2,000 of these women and children this year, a 22 percent increase over last year. At this time, Rose Haven is open four days a week and serves an average of 60-80 women per day.

Founded by Good Shepherd Sister Cathleen Boerboom in 1999, Rose Haven is a day shelter providing a safe, respectful environment for women and children to overcome the trauma of abuse and the loss of their security and dignity.

Rose Haven is embarking on an outreach campaign so that services can be available five days a week to meet increased demand.  Please go to www.rosehaven.org or call Rebekah Albert (503-248-6364, ext. 306) to learn more about the “One More Day” initiative.
