Students attend Louverture Cleary School near Port au Prince.
To the Catholic Sentinel:
That is a darling picture of the children in Haiti (page 6) and from the recent Madeleine Parish garage sale last month — the most successful of all —which benefits Louverture Cleary School.
As always, you tell the stories that inspire us as they recognize leaders in the Haitian Project fundraising efforts.
The good people Patrick names have worked long and hard to help the students, who depend on private donors. Included in that list deserving of our thanks should be Fran and Bill Johnson, from the start earnest workers for the H.P., who for the last three years, took over the mammoth job of planning, organizing and managing our garage sale.
We needed to read Deacon Patrick Moynihan’s sober reminder that giving to all charities, including Louverture Cleary School in Haiti, has suffered from the uncertainty of economic situations for many.
In the same issue was that letter from Jim O’Hanlon with the latest news of the new Blanchet House, soon to open.
And on the back page a wonderful article about Richard and Anne Feeney, who are beautiful examples of Catholic action for the public good.
