MEDFORD — The girl Crusaders of St. Mary's here embark on a new era with the promotion of Richard Vasey from JV coach to head of varsity. Vasey has an extensive backbround in coaching and will provide a seamless transition for the girls, who finished last year with an 18-8 record and an appearance in the OSAA state playoffs.

This year's squad looks to improve on that mark as they return their entire roster from last year. Heading up the Crusaders for this season include 2012 Southern Cascade League all-star guards Emily Alvarez and Rose Alvarez, wing Lillian Martin, and posts Nina Console and Alex DeBoer. Filling out the roster are Mary Eaton, Elise Vasey, Sarah Ramsay, Viv Juncal, and MaryBeth Barnum.
The team has a much more challenging schedule this year with a full slate of 24 games including appearances in two 4A tournaments and a 3A tournament all before the holiday break.
