Camp for families with members with disabilities slated
|Fr. Raul Marquez|
The Archdiocese of Portland’s Office for People with Disabilities has planned two family camp weekends for Catholic families with members with disabilities.
There will be a camp for English speaking families from 6 p.m., Friday, Aug. 22 until 1 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 24, and a camp for Spanish speaking families from 6 p.m., Friday, Aug. 29 until 1 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 31. The camps will be held at the Aldersgate Conference Center in Turner, (15 minutes East of Salem). The theme for the camps is “Journey Together in Hope/Viajando Juntos en la Esperanza.”
The camps will provide an opportunity for families to have fun, relax, celebrate, share faith and build friendships with other families. The weekends are planned with accommodations so that every member of the family can participate. Housing for each family has a room with a double bed, two twin beds and a private bathroom and shower.
Father Raul Marquez, Pastor of St. Peter Parish in Portland, will be present each weekend and will celebrate Mass for the family campers.
