Scripture is among key topics covered during the archdiocese's study week in August.
The Ministry Formation Summer Study Week will be held August 4-8. The study week is an opportunity for those in lay ecclesial ministry to take courses in the ministry formation and ministry certificate program. The study week will be held at the Griffin Center located between La Salle High School and Christ the King Parish (11957 SE Fuller Road) in Milwaukie. Morning courses will run from 9:00 am until 12:00 noon, and the afternoon session will run from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm. Courses being offered this summer are:
Morning courses: MCP 101 – Church – Its nature and mission, Carl Olson, instructor MCP 107 - Vatican II, Deacon Thomas Gornick, instructor MCP 305 – Eucharist, Sr. Jeremy Gallet, instructor MCP 204/308 - Christian Initiation, Rolando Moreno, instructor
Afternoon courses: MCP 104 – Liturgy and Sacraments, Peggy Toole, instructor MCP 105 – Old Testament, Claire-Marie Kahn, instructor MCP 108 – Church History, Nick Plato, instructor MCP 618 – Pastoral Administration, Fr. Steve Clovis, instructor
There will also be a short course offered Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 4:15 pm until 5:15 pm, Multicultural Awareness, Raul Velazquez, instructor.
Courses for credit are $60 each. Lodging is available at the Griffin Center, single $35 a night, double $25 per night. Registration is due by Thursday, July 24, 2014.
