MOUNT ANGEL — The monks of Mount Angel Abbey are inviting the public to join them for the 2014 Festival of Arts and Wine, to be held at the abbey 1 p.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, June 28.
The Benedictine monastery, just above the town of Mount Angel, overlooks the Willamette Valley. The annual event supports the monastery, library and guest house.
The festival features wine and beer tastings, including samples from the Abbey’s Benedictine Brewery, along with hors d’oeuvres, food tasting, art exhibits and sales, monk-led tours of the abbey, and live music.
An auction features adventures and other items, including a weekend fishing trip on the Oregon coast, a stay at a mountain resort in Sisters, dinner with monks and dinner for eight prepared by abbey chef Paul Lieggi.
Guests come dressed casually, with sun hats and layers recommended.
Tickets — $50 per person, $160 for four and $300 for eight — include food, wine and beer tastings, the art exhibits and music. Some supporters buy patron tickets for $125 apiece.
Organizers recommend that tickers be purchased in advance, at www.mountangelabbey.org/FAW2014TICKETS.htm, but tickets are also available at the event.
Those wishing to stay overnight in the Abbey Guest House may call 503-845-3025 for reservations at a special rate.
