At ACCW retreat — Fr. John Henderson, Mary Galvin and Virginia Durrin.
Father John Henderson, director of vocation for the Archdiocese of Portland, led an October retreat at Our Lady of Peace Retreat House in Beaverton for the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women. Father Henderson focused on prayer, reminding his listeners that in the gospels, Christ turned to the Father in prayer before each new activity. The priest told the women to embrace distractions that appear in prayer, deal with them, and then move on.
He said that, during this Year of Faith, we have learned to share faith humbly as God allows opportunities, not boast.
After lunch, retreat chair Betty Egner led a rosary focusing on the dignity of life. Father Henderson heard confessions. The retreat closed with adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and benediction.
