"Faustina: Messenger of Divine Mercy," the live theatrical one-woman drama performed by actress Maria Vargo and directed by Leonardo Defilippis of St. Luke Productions, premiered at Mount Angel Abbey and Valley Catholic High School in Beaverton earlier this month.
Additional shows will be performed on tour in the Archdiocese of Portland and the Portland-Vancouver metro area.
The next performance is set for 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 19, at St. Stanislaus Church in Portland, 3916 N Interstate Ave.
In "Faustina: Messenger of Divine Mercy," audiences experience firsthand the spirit and life of Polish mystic Saint Faustina, whose personal encounters with Jesus have inspired a world-wide devotion to Christ’s Divine Mercy. A parallel modern story within the drama offers audiences a personal connection to the current moral issues.
The opening coincided with the 75th anniversary of the death of Sister Faustina and is the actual feast day of St. Faustina on the Church calendar.
The production runs 90 minutes and is suitable for ages 12 and up. For information on performances and tickets, call 360-687-8029, email [email protected], or log on to DivineMercyDrama.com.
