Hygiene drive helped poor

It’s summer, it’s hot and just about everyone needs personal hygiene items. However, it’s a struggle for people facing poverty to simply afford food and rent. Often they are left with little or no money for many basic essentials, such as personal care products.

During June, Catholic Community Services of Lane County conducted its second annual “Squeaky Clean Hygiene Drive.” The agency invited churches, schools, businesses and organizations to collect personal hygiene items for people in need.
Donations included deodorant, soap, razors, dental products, feminine hygiene products, shampoo/conditioner and sunscreen.

Collection bins were located not only at Catholic Community Services centers in Eugene and Springfield, but at churches, including the area's Catholic parishes.
