The Grotto in Northeast Portland has a big day planned Sunday, July 21. At 2 p.m., in the plaza, people of all faiths are invited to bring their companion animals, properly restrained, for a blessing. It's a free annual event that brings dogs, cats, birds, and even rodents and reptiles to the sanctuary.

At 7 p.m., presumably after a little cleanup, the plaza will host an outdoor concert by the Portland Wind Symphony. Music will resonate off the cliffs in a benefit for the sanctuary. Tickets are available online at www.thegrotto.org, in advance at the Grotto, or at the door.

The Grotto is located at NE 85th and Sandy Blvd. For more information, call 503-254-7371 or go to www.thegrotto.org.
