CYO/Camp Howard staff will host a summer bash celebrating the 60th camping season on Saturday, July 20.
Families are encouraged to visit the camp for the celebration. CYO/Camp Howard staff will also throw the party to thank donors for their help with needed improvements to the camp.
Country-western band ‘Countryfied’ plays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and a free barbecue lunch and refreshments will be served from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Other snacks, soft drinks and camp swag will be available for purchase. Program Director Bill Fogarty and several of his summer camp staffers will direct tours from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Historic photos will be on display in Gimpl Dining Hall.
Executive Director Sister Krista von Borstel and several members of the CYO/Camp Howard staff will be on hand to answer questions about the camp. Sister Krista will also share information about upcoming opportunities at the camp, such as the introduction of horses in 2014.
Mark and Ron Mobley, from Central Oregon, lead Countryfied. The band has played all over the Pacific Northwest at events like the Pendleton Roundup and the St. Paul Rodeo. The Mobleys are childhood schoolmates of Sister Krista.
Everyone is welcome, and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and sunscreen. Directions to the camp can be found on the CYO/Camp Howard website at www.cyocamphoward.org.
