Radio helps raise funds for child center
People throughout Portland helped give children a voice during Providence Child Center’s fourth annual Radiothon. The event raised more than $93,000 in donations to support communication therapy.
The contributions will fund therapy sessions and purchase communication equipment and devices for residents of Providence Center for Medically Fragile Children and others in the community.
During the Radiothon, Oldies 106.7 FM broadcasted live from the Hawthorne Fred Meyer to spread the message and raise support. Bill Schonely, founding broadcaster and ambassador of the Portland Trail Blazers and Providence Child Center Foundation board member, spoke during the broadcast to encourage participation.
