UP official still missing, feared dead
Bad weather has slowed a search for the University of Portland's chief information officer, who is feared dead near Multnomah Falls.
Paul Disbury, a Sherwood technology expert who directs computer and voice mail operations at UP, was last seen on Dec. 31, the day his car was found in the Multnomah Falls parking lot. Friends and family say he may have been suicidal.
Rescue workers searched hillsides and dove into nearby ponds. High winds, ice and rain hampered the work, which officials are now calling a recovery effort.
A statement from the university says the community is "surprised and saddened" by the disappearance of Disbury, who had worked at UP since August 2010. He was promoted to chief information officer last March.
"Paul has served us very well in the short time he has been at the university," said Holy Cross Father William Beauchamp, president of the school. "We are all thinking and praying for Paul, his family, friends and loved ones."
A Mass for Disbury will be held at noon Monday, Jan. 14 on campus in the Chapel of Christ the Teacher.
