Archbishop John G. Vlazny will speak at the Oregon Rally for Life on Sunday, Jan. 20. The rally will be held at Portland's Pioneer Courthouse Square from 2:30 to 3:30 pm. The rally marks the 40th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court decision in the Roe v. Wade case, which legalized abortion in the United States. Also speaking to the rally will be National Right to Life president, Carol Tobias, Oregon Right to Life president, Dr. Joan Sage and Deacon Harold Burke Severs.
The Portland Praise Band will begin its concert at 2:15 pm to celebrate life. Participants are encouraged to come early and visit the many booths sponsored by pro-life organizations. A Walk for Life will in the downtown area will begin immediately after the rally. Since 1973, more than 55 million abortions have been performed in the United States.
