How do Jews and Christians read scripture differently?

That's the question Amy-Jill Levine will address at a free lecture set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, in Buckley Center Room 163 on the University of Portland campus, 5000 N. Willamette Blvd.

Amy-Jill Levine, from Vanderbilt University is rare thing: an Orthodox Jewish professor who is a New Testament scholar. She's committed to eliminating anti-Semitic theologies.

Her work includes the upcoming book Parables: Hearing the Stories of Jesus Again for the First Time.

She has held office in the Society of Biblical Literature, the Catholic Biblical Association and the Association for Jewish Studies.
