Archbishop to ordain transitional deacon

Archbishop John G. Vlazny will ordain Chrispine Otieno as a transitional deacon on Friday, Oct. 12, at Mount Angel Abbey Church. The Mass of Ordination will begin at 10 a.m.
Otieno was born in 1982 in Sia-ia, Kenya. He is one of five children of John Otieno Oriang and Margaret Otieno. Chrispine attended elementary school and high school in Kisumu, Kenya, graduating from Archbishop Okoth-Miranga High School in 1999. 

He entered the seminary in Kenya in 2001 and studied at the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome earning a bachelor's degree in philosophy and a sacred theology bachelor's degree.
Otieno’s ministry training has included parish ministry in Italy, at St. Henry Parish in Gresham, at St. Paul Parish in Silverton and at St. Mary Parish in Corvallis.
