Religious freedom rally set for state Capitol

SALEM — A rally for religious freedom will be held at noon, Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Oregon State Capitol here.
The nationwide event marks the third Stand Up for Religious Freedom rally. The first two rallies were held in March and June. More than 300 rallies were held in cities and towns across the country, with attendance topping 125,000.
Each of the Oct. 20 Stand Up for Religious Freedom rallies is being locally sponsored and organized. For more information on the local rally, log on to www.standupforreligiousfreedom.com.
The rallies are in response to the federal Health and Human Services mandate that would require the Catholic Church and other religious employers to provide free health insurance coverage for contraceptives, abortion-inducing drugs and sterilizations — services they deem immoral.
