The Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women have chosen officers for the 2012 to 2014 term. Del Keller will serve as president. Second Vice President is Dorothy Rose and treasurer is Suzanne Anker. Barbara Francescon will be auditor and Virginia Durrin secretary. The positions were announced last month at the ACCW convention.
During the convention Mass at St. Anthony Church in Portland, Auxiliary Bishop Kenneth Steiner devoted his homily to the history of Archbishop Edwin O'Hara, who helped pass a minimum wage law in Oregon in 1913. Later, O'Hara was appointed as Bishop of Great Falls, Mont. and then Archbishop of Kansas City. He founded the National Catholic Rural Life Association and said that he believed that the Catholic Church was the biggest single factor in building up rural communities. Father Charles Zach, spiritual director of the ACCW, and Father Patrick Donoghue of St. Anthony concelebrated the Mass.
