Jerry and Carol Bitz, members of St. Andrew Parish, will be honored April 21 during the The Northwest Catholic Counseling Center’s spring celebration. The couple have been longtime supporters of the center, which provides counseling to people who cannot afford it on a sliding fee scale.

"Carol and Jerry are wonderful members of our community and have such generous hearts," says Erin Peters, executive director of the center. "They were a natural pick to honor."

Last year, the honor went to the center's founders — Servite Sisters Barbara Kennedy, Sarah Deeby and Lisa Sheridan.

This year's event is set for the Riverside Golf and Country Club. Musician Patrick Lamb will entertain.

The need for affordable counseling has increased because of the long slow economy, says Peters
