Local man to be ordained a deacon

Timothy Furlow will be ordained a transitional deacon by Archbishop Alexander Sample on Saturday, Aug. 3, at St. Mary’s Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. The Mass of Ordination will begin at 9 am.
Furlow is the son of Steven and Pamela Furlow (deceased). He has two sisters. He attended Holy Trinity elementary school, and then took home school courses graduating high school in 2000. After attending the University of Portland, he graduated from the Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio earning a bachelor of arts degree in theology and philosophy in 2011. He has studied at Mount Angel Seminary and at the Pontifical North American College in Rome.
His ministry training assignments thus far have included time at St. John the Baptist Parish in Milwaukie and St. Paul Parish in Silverton. He will spend this next year at St. Mary Magdalene (The Madeleine) Parish in Portland as a pastoral training year.
