After the story about me was printed, I flew to Burbank, got a ride from the airport to the trailhead and did 10 miles of hiking on the Pacific Coast Trail, all on Earth Day. While I hike I often think of different things, like how good my dinner will taste.

Pentecost Sunday
Pentecost is a communal event. The Holy Spirit comes to those already united with one another in faith. In a sense, their spirit of faith calls forth the Holy Spirit. Though the language of faith differs from diocese to diocese and even from parish to parish, we are one in our celebration today.

La Salle Prep will send off its seniors next month. A Baccalaureate is set for Friday 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 14. Graduate ceremonies are set for 11 a.m. Saturday, June 15, at New Hope Community Church.

Jesuit class of 2013 over the top in Christian service
A basket full of bread, peanut butter and jelly, and hot cocoa is placed in front of the altar at Jesuit High School’s Friday liturgies each month along with the Eucharist. The woven basket demonstrates one of the most important values that Jesuit emphasizes: being men and women for others.

EUGENE — Marist High School will graduate 109 seniors in the class of 2013. Graduation begins at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8 in the Marist gym. Jeanette Herro, Marist math teacher, will be commencement speaker. Baccalaureate Mass is set for 7 p.m. Friday, June 7 at St. Paul Church, 1201 Satre St.
