How about you?
On his visit to the United States, Pope Francis asked us the same question that Pope Leo XIII asked Sister Katharine Drexel when she begged for more missionaries: What about you?

Not locked
When the Catholic Sentinel mentioned “locked borders” in its early October editorial, I wondered on what planet were these so-called locked borders.

Probing questions will help readers 'rediscover Jesus'
Who can resist an invitation to rediscover Jesus, especially when it is extended by Matthew Kelly, who — by combining the words "dynamic" and "Catholic" — has jolted millions of readers and viewers into igniting, reviving or renewing their Catholic faith?

Fascinating format can promote understanding
The year 2015 represents the 50th anniversary of the Second Vatican Council's landmark declaration on interreligious relations, "Nostra Aetate." This book is a most appropriate way for undergraduates and dialogue groups to become engaged with the fruits of the many dialogues between Catholics and representatives of other religions that have flourished on the local, national and international level since its promulgation.

Media Notebook: St. Francis on film

What the Synod was . . . and was not
I have followed with no little concern the coverage of the recent Synod on marriage and the family in the media, especially in the secular media. Change helps fill church for Veterans Day Mass
Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus (who focus on patriotism) in the Eugene area, have long organized a Veterans Day Mass at St. Mary’s. They decided this year that they would invite not only veterans but also police, fire personnel, rescue volunteers and professionals, and emergency responders to the “Red, White and Blue Mass” on Veterans Day.

"Healing relationships" program for parishes
Matt Cato, director of the Office of Life, Justice and Peace, knows the exact day that he and Benedictine Brother Cyril of Mount Angel decided to create a study guide for use in parishes for Pope Francis’ encyclical. “We were doing an interview on KBVM radio and Brother Cyril brought up what would we do to promote the encyclical,” he remembers.
