Faith groups to speak up at Capitol
Interfaith Advocacy Day is an annual event with interfaith worship, dialogue, education and advocacy on behalf of Oregonians facing hunger, homelessness, or lack of access to affordable health care. Sponsored in part by the Archdiocese of Portland, the day is set for 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11. Registration check-in begins at 8 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 790 Marion St. NE in Salem.

Jesuit's science whizzes share wonder of field
Three years ago, Jesuit High School student Meghana Rao, a 2014 graduate, discovered that James John Elementary School in North Portland had suffered from spending cuts, with its science curriculum particularly hard hit. Meghana and several Jesuit friends decided to do something about it, and in the process gave new meaning to the phrase “student-teacher.”
