ST. PAUL, Minn. (CNS) — Standing before reporters and cameras July 20, Archbishop Bernard A. Hebda said the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis failed in its handling of the case of Curtis Wehmeyer, a former priest who pleaded guilty in two courts of abusing three brothers while pastor of Blessed Sacrament in St. Paul.

3-D documentary on papal basilicas a mixed blessing

NEW YORK (CNS) — The 3-D documentary "St. Peter's and the Papal Basilicas of Rome" had only a single American showing July 14 in a few hundred theaters. But viewers are likely to get another opportunity to catch up with the film. Fathom Events, its American distributor, tends to offer encore showings of its opera and theater productions. So the big-screen tour should return in a few months, although no date has been announced.

BEAVERTON —  St. Pius X Parish in June hosted a week-long vacation Bible school for the entire Beaverton vicariate: St. Pius X, St. Cecilia, Holy Trinity, St. Juan Diego and St. John Fisher.

Roy's class of 2016 stayed active
ROY — St. Francis of Assisi School here graduated 13 eighth graders in their class of 2016.
The students had a busy year of academics, sports and fundraising. They participated in the National Geographic Bee in January, the Valley Catholic Speech Tournament in February, the St. Francis of Assisi Science Fair in March and the regional spelling bee in April. Charlie Harris won the school’s geography bee and participated in the regional competition in April. He placed 10th in his division.

Domus Dei Father Bartholomew Dat Pham, pastor of Our Lady of Lavang Parish since 2010 and administrator before that, will be leaving this summer. He will be replaced Aug. 15 by Domus Dei Father Ansgar Pham.
